What Do You Want To Be Known For In 2019?

This time of year is always a time to reflect and plan ahead. Some businesses are very busy, while others are less so as the silly season comes upon us. All routines tend to go out the window. Planning ahead tends to happen only after the New Year festivities are over, so take a little time for yourself in early January to think about what you want to be known for in 2019, and ask yourself the following questions:

1. What is your message?

How do you explain to people what you do? How do you relate your message to the results you get for your clients? Your message should encapsulate what you do and why you do it and describe the benefits your potential clients achieve through your products or services. It needs to be concise and emotive so that the people who hear it want to know more about what you do, and if you can help them.

2. What is your mission for 2019?

What are you passionate about in your business? What problem could you solve for your clients? What would you like to make better for your clients in the new year? What is your mission for 2019 - helping more clients reach their goals? Selling more of a particular product or service that you currently provide? Developing a new product or service that you know would benefit your clients? Streamlining your business so you could spend more quality time with your family? There are many areas you could get on a mission about in the New Year to make it your best yet!

3. What movement could you create?

Many people start their businesses to create a movement around their area of interest. Could 2019 be the year you create that community of like-minded people, or lead a group and use your expertise for the greater good? What changes could you make locally or globally that will make a difference to you, your clients and your business in 2019? Creating a sense of community in a group you lead could help you reach more clients or help you position yourself as an expert in a particular niche.

4. What would you like to achieve by 31st Dec 2019?

What achievements would make you proud or happy in 2019? What changes could you bring to other peoples lives for the better, and give you that sense of accomplishment and success? Think of where you’d like to be this time next year, really visualise the possibilities, and don’t be afraid to dream big! As ‘Only Fools and Horses’ Del Boy often said to Rodney ‘He who dares, wins!’. Staying small won’t benefit you or your current and prospective clients, so stop thinking that big dream of yours is unattainable, and plan for it!

5. What’s your motto for 2019?

What words would you like to live by in the New Year, what motto or affirmation would help you through the dark days of business, or inspire you to climb higher in the good times? Affirmations are a great tool to help you stick to your guns in 2019 and keep you focused on the goal in mind. If a particular motto or affirmation resonates with you, write it out and stick it on your mirror, kitchen cupboard or fridge and say it to yourself every day. Remember, the mind and subconscious will only work on what is planted in it – if you repeat this mantra to yourself often enough, the mind believes it to be true.

A new year brings so many opportunities for all of us – a clean slate, a fresh start, and a new plan. Make the most of January in terms of your planning and goal setting, get known for what you do, and make it your best year yet!
